The constable, Hirabai Pawar, who had been posted at Lalbaugcha Raja mandal was allegedly assaulted by one of the volunteers following an argument.

The incident occured after the unidentified volunteer got into an argument with Hirabai, who was posted near 'Lalbaugcha Raja' mandal at Chiwda Galli. Following the argument, the volunteer allegedly slapped Hirabai. By the time other police personnel could rush to her rescue, the accused had disappeared into the crowd.

A complaint has been registered with Kalachowky police station. But lack of witnesses means the volunteer hasn't been identified and this is hampering investigations.

One of the officers at Kalachowki police station said, "We have filed a FIR under sections 353 and 323 of IPC against an unidentified person as there were no witnesses apart from our lady constable. We will avail the CCTV footage and try to identify the accused. The incident occurred at 1 pm on Thursday afternoon. Our constable wasn't injured."
