China has been involved in a bitter war of words with the Dalai Lama for decades, dating all the way back to 1959.
The meeting was shared online and has since been watched over three million times.
The decision to ban Gaga is unprecedented, considering she is one of the most popular Western musicians in the country. According to reports, the party has demanded that websites stop uploading and distributing her songs with immediate effect, while news outlets are being urged to criticise the singer publicly.
Some fans of the singer have even claimed that they have had Instagram posts featuring the star censored.
