This Diwali, we decided we wanted to do a good deed. Never thought we'll get an opportunity to combine it with a task like shopping, especially during this festive season.
An exhibition on display at a gallery in Nariman Point will allow you to choose from a wide range of Chikankari works, while the proceeds will go to an organisation that promotes self-employment in women.
A group of 20 women, who are adept in creating Chikankari works, have come down all the way from Lucknow to showcase their works in a bid to sustain themselves.
The women are associated with the NGO Self Employed Women's Association (SEWA), which encourages self-reliance in women and helps them access the organised job sector. The exhibition features a range of kurtas, salwar kameez and sarees. Today is the last day of the exhibition.
