Aditi Rao Hydari reveals SLB did not let her eat one day during 'Heeramandi'

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s new streaming series, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, is getting a lot of love for its stunning visuals and grandeur. Meanwhile, actress Aditi Rao Hydari, who has a significant role as 'Bibbojaan' in 'Heeramandi,' which has an all-female cast, recently talked about a time when Bhansali got angry at her during filming and another time when he didn't let her eat to amp up her emotions for a scene. Aditi Rao Hydari reveals SLB did not let her eat one day In a chat with Bollywood Hungama, Aditi Rao Hydari said, “That happened during the shooting of the first mujra. We started our shoot with ‘Hath hojao‘, which was the first mujra I did. I had also just recovered from Covid at that time. By the end of the first day… the costume was heavy and my brain was not taking in anymore… I could see what he was telling me, I could understand it, but the firing wasn’t happening. But, trust me, what he was saying made complete sense. I was so disappointed in myself because I knew he didn’t get what he wanted. But, just before we wrapped, we got it. My thing here was that he believed so much in us so I never wanted to see him disappointed.” She mentioned that Bhansali used to tease her a lot because he found it "really difficult" to make her show anger convincingly, “He used to say, ‘If I say angry scene, she’ll do one love scene with full Shringar bhav,‘ about me. And he’s right. For me, to be angry is the most tiring thing, especially the very outward anger. And I have to be this passionate, rousing girl (here). I have to make all these people (the other characters) believe in what I’m saying." “One day, we did two-three takes and then he just called me very sweetly and he started speaking to me. I immediately got taken into another world. He speaks very beautifully and he speaks from his heart, so it’s very passionate and I had tears in my eyes. And then he said we were going to shoot this scene and gave everybody a lunch break, except me. He asked, ‘Is that okay?’ I was like, ‘Done’. So I didn’t eat and it really helped me. It kept me on the edge and not soft. So I went back to my van and I just thought about everything that he said. He basically told me a story. I came back and we shot it and it was okay.” She added that there was never any conflict between them at any point.

Pragya Jaiswal on working in Akshay Kumar's 'Khel Khel Mein': It's a beautiful c

Pragya Jaiswal says it is a beautiful coincidence that in her first Hindi film "Khel Khel Mein", she is sharing the screen space with Akshay Kumar. The Jabalpur-born actor had auditioned for Kumar's 2014 movie "Gabbar Is Back", which was directed by Telugu director Krish Jagarlamudi. Though she didn't get the part, the filmmaker later roped her in for his 2015 movie "Kanche", opposite Varun Tej. "It's a beautiful coincidence. I auditioned for a film which was to be with Akshay sir. But I ended up debuting in the south because of that. And after doing so many films in the south, I'm finally doing my first hindi film with him. I'm just grateful for the opportunity and journey," the 36-year-old actor told PTI in an interview. After "Kanche", Jaiswal starred in Telugu movies such as "Om Namo Venkatesaya", "Gunturodu", "Nakshatram", "Akhanda" and "Son of India". In "Khel Khel Mein", the actor features alongside an ensemble cast that also includes Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, Ammy Virk and Aditya Seal. The comedy-drama is written and directed by Mudassar Aziz of "Happy Bhag Jayegi" and "Pati Patni Aur Woh" fame. "For me, it is always about doing the right project. When this one came my way, I felt like it's a lovely role and I'd love to be a part of this film. Things happen when they are supposed to happen. You just have to be patient and work hard. It's an individual journey. I think this film happened at a time when I'm ready for it," she said. Jaiswal said she was initially intimidated by the presence of a star like Kumar but soon realised there is no scope for nervousness on the set. "You don't have scope to be nervous because you're in your character and you have to justify every word, line and moment of being in front of the camera. So I went to sir and introduced myself. "I made the effort to go and chat with everyone because I wanted to get comfortable with them, it was important for all of us to have that camaraderie that reflects on screen," she added. Going forward, Jaiswal said she wants to work with "best directors and biggest superstars". "I want to get the best roles and scripts. That's the driving force of every actor. We are all hungry. We want to do the best of work... I think you just have to grab the opportunity, make the most of it, and hope that it will lead to your dreams one day. I'm hoping that all these opportunities will land me something greater," the actor said. "Khel Khel Mein" is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Vipul D Shah, Ashwin Varde, Rajesh Bahl, Shashikant Sinha and Ajay Rai. It is scheduled for release in theatres on September 6. This transformation is going to be a surprise package for everyone." ‘Jigra’ is directed by Vasan Bala, whose streaming movie ‘Monica, O My Darling’ received a great response from the audience and critics alike. Feroz Abbas Khan

Feroz Abbas Khan brings 'Letters of Suresh' to India: It's the same format as...

After a successful run across the USA, the play Letters of Suresh is set to make its India debut at the NMACC (Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Center) in Mumbai on May 9. The play by Rajiv Joseph has been adapted by ace playwright Feroz Abbas Khan for its premiere in India. Known for his grand productions like 'Mughal-e-Azam: The Musical', 'Civilisation of Nation' and 'Death of a Salesman', Khan is now set to experiment with a more intimate form of storytelling with 'Letters of Suresh'.  "It is a series of monologues apart from one direct conversation," says Feroz talking to mid-day.com about his upcoming play. "It is basically about four people yearning for a connection. It's a very beautiful play and it's in the form of letters and they are communicating with each other through letters and trying to make a connection. That's at the heart of the play." "It's a very identifiable story. There are four stories of four different people. And their lives get intertwined with each other through letters," he added.  Despite having produced grand musicals and plays in the past, Feroz Abbas Khan is not skeptical about being able to the attention of the audience with a monologue-driven play.  "Performance, acting, and word are the most powerful things in theatre. I could give you an example of my play. One of the biggest successes in the history of theater is Tumhari Amrita. What is it? Just two people sit and read letter. That's all it is.  There are so many plays that are going on which have one long monologue. Again, one of my other most successful plays is 'Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hain' by Anupam Kher." For Khan, 'Letters of Suresh' is unlike any of his previous plays that had grand production values. "This is very intimate. This is about the words and the actor. So it's a different experience for me. It's the same format like 'Tumhari Amrita' but done in a completely different way. 'Tumhari Amrita' was just two people reading letters. This is about four people performing the letters. It's lot about performance and reads good or better than what it reads".  Casting:  The Indian adaptation of 'Letters Of Suresh' also brings in an all-India cast. Khan feels that the casting came to him and fit well like the pieces of a puzzle. The play stars Vir Hirani, Palomi Ghosh, Harssh Singh, and Radhika Sawhney. "There were actors who wanted to work with me. It started off with Palomi Ghosh. She's a very fine actress who has worked in films and OTT. Then the other casting that happened was with Vir Hirani (son of filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani)." "Vir was someone who reached out to me and said he would like to work with me.  And when I was reading this play, he was absolutely the right casting for it. So,  I called him and I did his audition. He was just perfect for the job."  Khan had previously worked with Harssh Singh in his play Civilisation to Nation where he played the role of Jawaharlal Nehru. Radhika Sawhney, too, perfectly fits into the role in 'Letters of Suresh'.   'Letters of Suresh' will be staged from 9th May - 12th May in Mumbai at NMACC.

Abhishek Banerjee with Amitabh Bachchan Pic/Instagram

Here’s what connects birthday boy Abhishek Banerjee actor to Amitabh Bachchan

Abhishek Banerjee is one actor who has proved his acting prowess every time by nailing his roles on the screen. Be it films, short films, and web shows, the actor has always entertained his audience. Recently, his film Stolen received a standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival, giving yet another example of his brilliant performance.  Abhishek was recently seen speaking about his upcoming movie 'Section 84', in which he will be seen sharing screen space with the legend Amitabh Bachchan. Reminiscing the old days, Abhishek revealed the impact of Amitabh Bachchan on his life during his young days and even as an aspiring actor. Talking about how he feels he has a huge connection with Big B, Abhishek said, "Jab mein chota tha aur maine ne zindagi mein pehle baar filme dekhni shuru ki thi toh, it was him; he was the only actor for me. I was not concerned about anybody else but him. I have grown up watching his films and interviews. I would jump with joy the minute he got any award at any award function. I would watch television just for him and even KBC. So, for me, my life revolved around Amitabh Bachchan." Abhishek further revealed, "I went to the same college where he went, Kirori Mal College. I have done theatres with the same theatre group where Mr Bachchan was a student. So I really think I have a huge connection with him. For me, just to see him was a dream, but I remember a long time ago I had done a short film called Bombay Talkies by Anurag Kashyap and Murabba. I did a ten-second role in Murabba just to be in the film where Mr Bachchan is also acting." "But Section 84 was another level because I was co-acting; I was saying my lines, looking into his eyes, and he was delivering his magnanimous in front of me. So it was a special moment for me; it was almost like, even if I was co-acting, I was cheering for him, just like I have been doing all my life. So yes, it's my childhood dream to be with him and act with him, and with Section 84, it all fell into place. I am really, really excited about the film that it will hit theaters next year." He added.  On the work front, Abhishek has some amazing big projects in the lineup, and he will be seen in ‘Stree 2’, ‘Vedaa’, ‘Bhediya 2’, ‘Section 84’, and ‘Stolen’.
