Atul Sharma has been charged with criminal intimidation
In his complaint with police lodged in October, Paes had alleged that Sharma threatened to kill him and his minor daughter.
Sharma was booked under sections 506(2) (criminal intimidation) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) of the IPC.
Paes had claimed the incident happened on the premises of a court following an ongoing dispute between him and Pillai who had approached a local court and filed a case of domestic violence and harassment against Paes.
According to reports, Sharma, who was friend of Pillai, was furious at Paes as the latter had submitted some evidence in the court that is believed to have indicated illicit relationship between Sharma and Pillai.
