Cori Rist, one of American golf superstar Tiger Woods' many ex-girlfriends during his wild sex scandals in the late 2000s, has defended the lothario after he was charged with driving under the influence by police in Florida on Monday. "I saw the news. I only feel compassion for the guy. He's a good person and it's kind of sad," Rist told Daily Star.

The lingerie model, who Tiger bedded in 2006 while he was still married to Swedish model Elin Nordegren, added: "Tiger is a good father. He's going through a difficult time. I think people should offer support instead of applauding his downfall. I just wish him the best and I hope to see a good outcome from all of this."
Meanwhile, Woods (41) apologised for his actions. "I understand the severity of what I did and I take full responsibility for my actions. I didn't realise the mix of medications had affected me so strongly. I would like to apologise with all my heart to my family, friends and the fans," Woods said.
