The makers of "Rahsaya", based on Aarushi murder case, are planning to turn the film into franchise.

Helmed by Manish Gupta, starring Kay Kay Menon, Tisca Chopra, Ashish Vidyarthi in lead roles, the film had garnered positive reviews after its release last year.

"We would want to make 'Rahsaya' into a franchise. After the success (of 'Rahsaya), we want to narrate other crime stories. We would like to come up with 'Rahsaya 2', 'Rahsaya 3'...It's an interesting space to be in," Ajit Andhare, COO, Viacom 18 Motion Pictures told PTI. The makers are, however, yet to zero in on a story for the sequel.

"It is all in development stage. We are yet to work on a screenplay and get a director on board. We want to tell audiences about the crime happening around us by narrating unsolved or solved mystery cases or crime stories," he said.

Viacom 18 Motion Pictures which completed five years in the industry has backed films like "Bhootnath", "Kahaani", "Oh My God", "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag", "Special 26", "Mary Kom", "Queen", "Manjhi The Mountain Man", "Pyaar Ka Punchnama" series among others. "Hindi cinema is a great place to be in today as there is maturity and good innovative stories being told. The market of English films is growing," Andhare said.

They have some interesting films lined up for release like Saif Ali Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut starrer "Rangoon", John Abraham's "Force 2", biopic "Budhia Singh ¿ Born To Run".

On the Hollywood front, it has "Baywatch", starring Dwayne Johnson, Priyanka Chopra, Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach, Jon Bass and action drama "xXx: The Return of Xander Cage" starring Vin Diesel, Deepika Padukone, Ruby Rose, Nina Dobrev, Donnie Yen and Tony Jaa.
