A week after being hired, the victim was raped by her employer, who threatened her saying that if she went to the police her life would be in danger
A maid registered a case of rape against her former employer at the Nehru Nagar police station, Kurla (East).
The woman, who helped the 30-year-old victim to find employment, was also named as an accused in the complaint. u00a0According to the police officials, the accused has been identified as Aftab Mohammad Ali Surve (43) and the woman has been identified as Reshma Shaikh (31).

The police claimed that the rape incident took place one-and-a-half-year ago, just a week after the victim started working at Surve’s house.
Senior Inspector Suresh Bhavar from Nehru Nagar police station, said, “When Surve’s wife left the house, he raped the victim by holding her at knifepoint.”
Traumatised
The victim stopped going to work after the incident. Shocked, Surve further traumatised the victim and threatened her. He told her that if she ever went to the police or said anything about the rape, her life would be in danger.
Last Saturday, the victim filed a FIR at the Nehru Nagar police station after Surve tried contacting her asking her for sexual favours.
Surve and Shaikh have been booked under sections 376 (rape), 354 (molestation) and 506 (B) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
No official arrests have been made since the enquiry is still on.u00a0
