Accused enters victim's house and forces himself on her; victim's screams alert neighbours, father-in-law who nab him
Even at a time when the country is up in arms protesting against the rise in crimes against women following the gang rape of a para-medical student in the Capital, the city still witnesses several cases of molestation. One such incident occurred on Wednesday when a man entered a woman’s house in Vakola and tried to molest her in her sleep.

The Vakola police arrested Omprakash Yadav, a 36-year-old resident of Dutta Mandir Road at Vakola for trespassing into a neighbour’s home and trying to rape her. According to authorities, Yadav, who is married with three children, entered the 30-year-old victim’s residence on Wednesday night when no one was present.
“Yadav noticed that the victim was alone at home and seeing that the door was not locked he entered the home. He then locked the door from inside and made his way to the victim’s room where she was sleeping. He then forced himself on her. The victim put up a fight and began to scream for help,” said an official from the Vakola police station.
Hearing screams for help, the victim’s father-in-law, who was sleeping on the first floor of the house rushed down to see the source of the commotion.
Unaware that another person was present in the house, Yadav rushed out of the house and was about to escape. But the screams had alerted the neighbours and with the help of the father-in-law nabbed him and took him to the police station.
An official from Vakola police station said, “Yadav works with a private security firm. He has three children and lives in the same locality of the victim. We have arrested him under Section 354 (molestation) of the IPC. He was produced in the Bandra court on Thursday where he has been remanded to judicial custody.”u00a0
