Cops picked up both assailants when they were visiting a restaurant in south Mumbai
Less than a month after the incident, police arrested two men on Saturday for slashing a woman five times with a sharp object in a failed robbery attempt at Marine Drive. Based on the sketches prepared after the incident, the cops identified the duo when they visited a restaurant in south Mumbai and nabbed them.
The two accused had come to Delhi Darbar Hotel when the Marine Drive police station officials picked them up, said cops. MiD DAY had reported about the incident in its September 14 edition.

On September 13, Tardeo resident Meher Jaan Mohammad Lamberaj (32), was on her morning walk from her residence to Marine Drive when the two bike-borne accused accosted her near the Air India building. The arrested accused tried to rob her of her mobile phone, but when she resisted them, they attacked her, slashing her in the stomach and face, and fled.
“Lamberaj was immediately rushed to Bombay hospital by other walkers and based on her descriptions, the Marine Drive police prepared sketches of the two attackers and managed to arrest them. The assailants have been identified as Liyamat Ulla Kismat Ulla (20), and Abdul Hafiz Abdula Khan (22),” said the police officer from Marine Drive police station.
Still unsolved
Meanwhile, police are yet to make a breakthrough in Additional Municipal Commissioner Mohan Adtani's mobile theft case. Adtani had registered an FIR about the incident with the Marine Drive police station. In his complaint, he had stated that on the night of August 31, while walking back to his Malabar Hill home from the BMC headquarters, two bike-borne men snatched his mobile phone and fled. The incident had taken place opposite the Parsi Gymkhana at Marine Drive.
