Mary Immaculate stun Apostolic Carmel

Riding on hat-tricks by strikers Karen Pais and Aditi Shetty, defending champions Mary Immaculate Girls High School, Borivli thrashed Apostolic Carmel (Bandra) 8-0 in the semi-final of the Mumbai Schools Sports Association girls under-16 football tournament at Azad maidan yesterday.

Aditi (14) scored in the second, seventh, ninth and 14th minutes. On the other hand, Karen (13) netted goals in the 17th, 30th, 35th and 40th minutes.

Carmel shine
The Borivali outfit will play Carmel of St Joseph (Malad) in the final on Monday. The latter beat Lilavatibai Podar (Santacruz) 2-0 in the other semi-final. Srushti Sharma and Evelyn Braganza scored a goal each for Carmel of St Joseph.


“We won the MSSA U-14 title last year. I hope we are able to win the U-16 title this time,” said Karen, who is the highest goal scorer for MIG with 11 goals.
