Two constables were injured when a tempo rammed into their bike in the early hours of Wednesday, on the Vakola flyover. Although the tempo driver fled from the accident spot, a cop who was heading home on the same route chased the tempo and nabbed the errant driver.
According to police sources, constables Dhanaji Pawar (50) and Ganesh Shinde (30) of Andheri Police Station were on their way to Bandra (West) Additional Commissioners office around 4 am when the incident took place.
The tempo driver, identified as Abhay Gadashi (23), was speeding on the Western Express Highway and crashed into the constables on the Vakola flyover. But on noticing that the injured were cops, the driver fled the spot.
