A 22-year old man from Kalyan's Suchak Naka area was killed for slapping his 16-year old teenage neighbour. The murder was committed by the teenager and his father, both of whom have subsequently been arrested.
The deceased has been identified by the Kalyan police as Aftab Alam Khan. An argument between Khan and the minor became increasingly heated and resulted in the former slapping his neighbour. The furious boy quickly informed his father about the chain of events.
In a fit of rage, the father, along with the teenager, stormed into Aftab Alam's house and aggressively assaulted him. According to a report in the Times of India, a police officer investigating the case was quoted as having said, "Khan was attacked on the private part after which he was unable to stand. He was taken to Ruminibai Hospital within 15 minutes where he was declared dead."
The report also states that the 45-year old accused and his son, both of whom have been arrested for murder, have been placed under separate custody. The minor has been sent to a remand home for juveniles, while his father was placed in police custody by a sessions court in Kalyan. Their identity has not been revealed so as to protect the minor.
