A 35-year-old man was murdered on a busy road late last night at Antop Hill and died while on his way to a hospital.

The police said the man has been identified as Sayeed Rashid Shaikh (35), a resident of Agarwalwadi in Suleman Compound. The incident occurred outside Sujata hotel in the area. Shaikh was standing on the road when two men came and attacked him with a sharp knife on the chest and fled. The two accused were later identified as Ramzan Ali alias Ramju Langda (43) and Saddam Shaikh (nephew of Langda). The accused and the victim have criminal records with several cases of assault and robbery against their names.
Last night, Shaikh and the accused got into a heated argument. Suddenly, Langda caught Shaikh by the neck and Saddam attacked him with a knife on his chest before running away.
“The accused have disappeared along with their families,” said Shaikh’s younger brother Mehboob, who works at Masjid Bunder. Langda had allegedly been extorting money from auto rickshaw drivers in the locality and Shaikh had opposed this.
Mehboob said his brother was lying on the road crying for help yet no one came to his aid. He had heard about the attack on his brother and rushed to the spot and took him to hospital, but he died on the way.
