Mumbai crime: Neighbour held for molesting 4-year-old in Borivli

A four-year-old girl survived a 45-year-old pervert’s attempt to rape her when an alert neighbour noticed the man trying to molest the girl and raised an alarm. The pervert, Ramesh Devji Watare, has now been arrested by the Borivli police and is cooling his heels in the police lock up.

The incident took place on Wednesday under the MHB Colony police station jurisdiction. According to the police, Watare called the girl to his residence on the pretext of giving her a chocolate and molested her. Luckily, another neighbour, witnessed the crime and informed the survivor’s mother. But sensing danger, Watare fled even before the girl’s mother could rush to the spot.

On Friday, the police got a tip-off that Watare was at Borivli station to meet a friend. They laid a trap and arrested him. Interrogations have revealed that the accused lives in Borivli with his wife and three children. His wife is a domestic help and his children work in a private firm.

An officer from MHB Colony police station said, “His house was empty as his family members were at work, so he dragged the girl inside and molested her. The girl was lucky that another neighbour was around and alerted the neighbourhood.”
