A traffic cop beat up an autorickshaw driver for parking his vehicle in a 'No Parking' spot in Kalina on Monday. A video of the incident shot by fellow autorickshaw drivers has been doing the rounds, a Times of India report read.

In the video, Shadab Ali, 27, is seen getting into an argument with sub-inspector Dhondiram Pingole. There has been no complaint in the case so far. Around 11.30am, an altercation took place between Ali and Pingole in front of a police post in Kalina and the cop later fined the driver Rs 400 for illegal parking.

"The cop beat me up and then offered me tea," Ali was quoted as saying in the report, adding, "He slapped me several times and that has led to a problem with my hearing. I agreed to pay the fine, but the policeman started hitting me." He said he underwent a medical examination for the hearing problem.

A senior traffic police officer said they were taking action against illegally parked autorickshaws in Kalina on Monday. The officer said the auto driver was asked to remove his vehicle, but he got abusive. He said the police personnel and the driver then got into a scuffle. "Later, the driver paid the fine and also had a cup of tea with the policeman, shaking hands before leaving. He has not filed any complaint so we do not know what the intention of this video is and who has shot it," the officer was quoted saying.

Senior inspector, Vakola police station, Kailashchandra Avhad said they had not received any complaint from the auto driver or the cop.
