Girgaum chowpatty is one of the most important beaches of the city where every year about 13,000 Ganpati idols are immersed on the last day of Visarjan. After the visarjan is over, the beach is left with a tremendous amount of garbage. The civic body, along with locals and NGOs, then undertakes a clean-up drive.

This year the drive will begin at 9 am in the presence of the CM. Additional municipal commissioner Pallavi Darade has appealed to people to turn up in large numbers.
