Today, people around the world will celebrate Mandela Day, the day Nelson Mandela was born, with the idea that each individual has the power to transform the lives of those less fortunate. On this day, the Nelson Mandela Foundation urges every individual to devote 67 minutes of their time to make a change and serve humanity. The number signifies the 67 years that Mandela gave to public service. This year, the spirit of Madiba (as he was lovingly called) has come here. The South African Consulate in Mumbai along with the Nargis Dutt Foundation will dedicate 67 minutes to providing hygiene kits to 176 underprivileged girls at a Bandra centre. The kits comprise sanitary napkins, soap, a hand towel, sanitizer, toothpaste and toothbrush. The SA consulate will not restrict the effort to one day, and will provide free sanitary napkins to the girls for one year. When it comes to Mandela, we know humanity will always remain the focus. The spirit of Madiba lives on.

The group recently announced a six-city tour with a double bill. Indian Ocean, Ram's band, will be a part of their tour that starts from Kolkata on July 29, moving to New Delhi (July 30), Mumbai (August 5), Chandigarh (August 6), Bengaluru (August 12) and ending in Pune on August 13. We cannot wait for this jugalbandi.

Go Goa gone
Love films and all things filmy? We suggest you pack your bags and head to Goa for the International Film Festival (IFFI). The festival is a few months away, but behind-the-scenes work has begun.
As part of their Internship Programme, IFFI Goa has put out a call for social media interns to help build and maintain a social media presence for the festival.
Interested volunteers will be required to write stories, press releases, summaries, interview celebrities on the red carpet and do live videos. And all this happens in beautiful, verdant Goa. Now that's what we call a right mix of business and pleasure.
A royal parody
Game of Thrones is back with its seventh season, bringing with it a string of heated discussions, conspiracy theories, and pure fun. Jumping on the bandwagon is Books on Toast, which recently brought together a cast of popular stand-up comedians to create a parody video, titled Lost Starks.
Set to the tune of an Adam Levine track (Lost Stars), it features comics Kaneez Surka, Sumukhi Suresh, Aadar Malik, Sahil Shah, Tanmay Bhat, Siddharth Dudeja, and Navin Noronha as members of the House Stark of Winterfell.
Except, here, they are competing on a talent show, Westeros' Got Talent, and singing about how leaving their home in Winterfell caused all their troubles (and more than a handful of gory deaths). Rujuta's period notes
For a few days now, social media has been abuzz with the news of companies offering women employees leave for the first day of their period. The response that took us by surprise was nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar, who tweeted saying, 'Pain during periods & sex is abnormal. Don't let anyone normalise it with a leave or lubricant.
Up ur fitness quotient & change d partner.' She was slammed by followers, especially gynaecologists who called her out for spreading wrong information. Even if the real deal isn't painful for Diwekar every month, conversation about it surely was.
