The internal inquiry committee constituted by the director of health services (DHS) to probe the kidney transplant racket at Hiranandani Hospital, is interrogating two more employees of the hospital in the case. The report will be submitted to the health ministry and the police next week.

After the Powai police busted the kidney racket, an internal committee was constituted to investigate into the matter.
The report was supposed to be submitted last Monday to the health ministry,but has been delayed further as the team has got two more leads.
“So far, the report is incomplete as we are interrogating two more officials from the hospital who can provide more information on the racket. We will submit the report by next week,” said a senior officer from the committee.
The DHS, Dr Mohan Jadhav, said, “The committee is interrogating two more officials. We won’t be able to comment until the investigation gets over. We are coordinating with the police.”
The case
Acting on a tip-off by an activist, Mahesh Tanna, the police stopped the illegal transplant of a Surat-based businessman, Brijkishore Jaiswal (48). Later, police investigation revealed that Jaiswal was supposed to provide Rs 23 lakh for the transplant.
The health department has suspended the licence of the hospital for organ transplants until the investigation is completed.
The police station has registered a case of cheating, impersonation, criminal conspiracy and forgery under the IPC, and the Transplantation of Human Organ Act, 1994 against the accused.
