41-year-old’s wife tried to commit suicide on Monday, when she was stopped by her aunt; she revealed to her that her husband has been sexually abusing the children for the last four years
A 41-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly sodomising his 13-year-old son for the last four years and molesting his 10-year-old daughter. The incident came to light on Monday, when the children’s mother tried to commit suicide.
According to the Kanakia police in Mira Road, the victims’ mother was trying to hang herself, when her aunt, who lives nearby, saw her. She stopped the woman and asked her why she was taking the extreme step. “The children’s mother revealed that her husband had been sexually abusing his own children.

She told her aunt that she had found out about it four months ago, but her husband had threatened to kill her and her children if she approached the police,” said Subhash Bhauche, deputy superintendent of police (Thane rural). With the help of her aunt, the woman filed the case against her husband yesterday.

In her statement, the woman said that four months ago, she started noticing that her son seemed to be suffering from depression. He had stopped going to school or playing with his friends. “When she asked him the reason, he did not reveal anything. But, when she insisted that she would take him to the hospital, he told her that her husband had been sodomising him.
The 13-year-old also said that the father had been abusing his younger sister as well,” said Bhauche. When she confronted her husband, he threatened to kill her children if she told anyone. Helpless, she decided to commit suicide.
Based on the complaint, police have registered the case against the man, a building contractor, under sections 377 (unnatural sex) and 354 (outraging the modesty of a woman) under Indian Penal Code and sections of the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences Act, 2012. Police are trying to talk to the boy about the incident.
“The boy is under shock and needs counselling. We are also going to send the children for a medical examination and will get DNA sample of the accused to confirm the case,” said the investigating officer.
