In a sordid twist to a possible ‘friendship’ gone wrong, a woman pressed rape charges on her male friend, after her husband found the friend lying in their bedroom.
A report by The Times Of India, the 30-year-old woman, a resident of Malad East, filed rape charges against a man found lying in her bed. She lives with her husband, their two sons, mother and father-in-law and sister-in-law in a rented house in Daftary Road. One night her husband, a snack vendor, left home to go out at night and returned realizing he had left something at home. On his return he spotted a stranger in his bed and on hearing his wife screaming he caught the man and beat him up. The accused then proceeded to quickly pick up his clothes and fled.
In her complaint the woman told the police that her in-laws were asleep on another floor and she had kept the room’s door open for her husband. She added that the stranger barged in. In a statement to The Times of India, a senior police officer said, “Based on the woman's statement, we registered a case of rape under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code.”
Interestingly, on being questioned, the lady’s neighbours said that they recognized the man and that he visited the house often. The accused is still at large.
