Australian Open finalist Andy Murray and US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro have both pulled out of the Marseille Open, organisers announced last night.
World No 3 Murray blamed his defection on fatigue, telling his personal website that he needed "another week of rest to recover after five weeks of competition in Australia".
Del Potro is reportedly suffering from a wrist injury.
One of the two vacancies could be filled by Russian World No 6 Nicolay Davydenko. The 512,750-euro ATP Marseille event starts on Monday and features France's Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, last year's champion.
