New beginnings for John

John Abraham will produce Shoojit Sircar's next, but will not act in it

Says a source, "John has been associated with producing a few commercials and has been contemplating branching out to feature films since a long time. For now there are two projects in the pipeline which John will be co-producing."

Amongst them are Vicky Donor which is a light take on the subject of sperm donation and I, Me aur Main where the actor is cast opposite Chitrangada Singh.

The actor had stated six months ago that he would be turning producer with ad films first and later on with big screen projects.

Adds the source, "Though he is playing the lead in I, Me aur Main, he won't be acting in Shoojit's film. He loved the subject and immediately decided to support the project. However as far as acting is concerned, there is a lot on his plate."

Apparently, as a producer, John wants to promote edgy stories and filmmakers with a unique style of story telling. Interestingly, the first time he was inspired to support a project was in 2008 when he co-produced a documentary called Return of the Tigers by wildlife filmmaker and environmentalist Mike Pandey.

Says the source, "At that point, many industry folk were pretty surprised by his choice of not venturing into Bollywood production. However, he has been meeting various filmmakers to take his endeavour further."
