Au00a0case of kidnapping was lodged against an unknown person after a 35-year-old woman complained to the police that her eight-day-old son had gone missing. The Nigadi police suspect the father's involvement in the kidnap.

The police said the infant's father Sachin Kale had several cases against his name. The child's mother Bharati lodged the case at the Nigadi police station. According to the police, the kidnapping occurred after 10.30 pm on Friday night from one of the roadside shanties near Nigadi Ota scheme.

"The mother of the child is not able to give us proper information. We came to know that her husband, who has criminal background, has three other wives," said Senior Police Inspector Nandkishor Bhosale Patil. The police said Bharati and her husband were not getting along well.

"It was only after neighbours informed us that we came to know that Bharati's husband Sachin Kale had visited her shanty prior to the baby boy going missing," said Bhosale Patil.
