New Delhi: Vinay Sharma, one of the five adult men accused of raping a physiotherapy student on a moving bus in the national capital in December 2012, on Thursday filed an application before the Patiala House Court, demanding security for himself in jail.

According to the application, Sharma claimed that he was attacked inside the Tihar Jail on the night of August 15 night by other inmates and suffered fractures on his left hand and left leg.

Lawyer AP Singh said, "Sharma's left hand and left leg were broken by 5-6 inmates. He is not being given medication properly."

"We moved an application on this matter in the Patiala House Court. This is not right. It seems like they will be killed before their punishment is decided. We have asked for proper treatment, CCTV camera in his cell, no inmates in his cell and high level judicial enquiry," he added.

Singh further said that Sharma used to feel safe only with Tamil Nadu Police, adding that this had happened to him before, so his life is in danger.

Earlier in April, Singh claimed that his client Sharma was physically assaulted by other inmates and police officials at Tihar Jail.
