One killed in hit-and-run on Mumbai-Pune Expressway

A hit-and-run accident took place of Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Wednesday afternoon, killing one pedestrian, a monk from Ujjain. Another person is critical and is undergoing treatment at a Nigdi-based hospital

Pune: A hit-and-run accident took place of Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Wednesday afternoon, killing one pedestrian, a monk from Ujjain. Another person is critical and is undergoing treatment at a Nigdi-based hospital.


The incident took place around 5 pm on Wednesday on the Expressway near Urse Toll naka.


A hit-and-run case has been registered against a car driver at Talegaon Dabhade police station. The deceased pedestrian has been identified as Anirudh Karmayogi Maharaj (40) from Ujjain in Indore.


According to the expressway control room, “A car coming from Mumbai dashed against the road divider and hit Anirudh who died on the spot, while another person is critical. After the incident, the car driver fled away.”
