Maharashtra's Rishabh Pandya caused a major upset beating second seed Sandeep Gulati of New Delhi in a round of 32 men's 9-ball match of the NSCI-National Pool Championship yesterday.
The Mumbai-based cueist Pandya showed great character against Gulati, the reigning 8-ball champion. Pandya started off strongly and quickly raced to a 4-1 lead. Though Gulati tried his best to get into the match, Pandya maintained the momentum and went on to post a 7-4 victory in the race-to-seven rack encounter at the NSCI, Worli.
Meanwhile, top seed and defending champion Alok Kumar of PSPB cruised to 7-1 win over Hasan Badami.
