Payyade SC and Police Gymkhana registered contrasting wins to set up the championship round in the 67th Salar Jung Community Invitation T20 cricket tournament.
Steered by Armaan Jaffer's unbeaten 59 and Adeeb Usmani's unbeaten 48, Payyade eased past Parsee Gymkhana with a comfortable seven-wicket win while Police Gymkhana, who escaped to victory in the quarter-finals, registered another nail-biting four-wicket win over a gallant PJ Hindu Gymkhana in the semi-finals at the Parsee Gymkhana.
Put into bat, PJ Hindu Gymkhana managed a modest 120 for six in their 20 overs after struggling at 30 for five in eight overs, until Kunal Pal and Saksham Jha put on 89 runs for the sixth wicket in the remaining 12 overs. Jha scored 32 with three boundaries.
