Police nab criminal who tortured his own lawyer

The accused, Billu, was involved in more than 20 criminal cases. He turned to criminal activities after an uneventful childhood and death of his brother

A dreaded criminal of Delhi, who was involved in more than 20 cases and wanted in abduction-cum-robbery of his own lawyer, was arrested by Delhi police on Monday. According to the police, Kishan Solanki, alias Billu (35), was involved in more than 20 cases of murder, extortion, robbery, attempt to murder, assault on government servant, NDPS and Arms Act.u00a0 He had also been detained under the National Security Act and at present wanted under Maharastra Control of Organised Crime Act (MACOCA).u00a0 He was also wanted in abduction and robbery of his own lawyer.



Police got a tip off on October 3 that Billu would come near Ghevra Mor area of Mundka of west Delhi to meet with a contact. A trap was laid by the police and Billu was apprehended. A sophisticated 0.32 pistol and five live cartridges have been recovered from his possession.

Ashok Chand, DCP, crime and railways, said, "Kishan Solanki, alias Billu, was wanted by the Delhi police for a long time. He abducted the lawyer with his driver's help, and then in the lawyer's own car, took him to a factory in Keshav Puram area. The lawyer was then set afire and tortured by them with a candle".

Kishan Solanki had an uneventful childhood till the murder of his elder brother in 1989-90 by a gangster named Cheena, a gangster from UP. To avenge his brother's death become an obsession and in the year 2000 he got his revenge by killing the gangster. Since then he has been involved in several heinous crimes such as murder, extortion, attempt to murder and robbery, among others.

In a similar incident, the crime branch of Delhi police arrested a notorious gangster of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. According to the police, 29-year-old Chiku Singh was wanted in a murder case of a district panchayat member in Uttar Pradesh. He was arrested in south-east Delhi.

"Chiku Singh, who carried a reward of Rs 10,000 on his head, was apprehended in East of Kailash area on Tuesday following a tip off. On September 23, Singh and his associates allegedly shot dead Sanjay Gujjar, a member of zila panchayat of Meerut when he was coming to his office in Meerut Cantt", said DCP Ashok Chand.
The murder was carried out allegedly at the insistance of one Badan Singh. Singh was also found to be involved in an attempt-to-murder case in Meerut in which oneu00a0 Himachal Baliyan was allegedly shot at by Chiku and associates.
