The Income Tax department investigating the broadcasting rights for the Commonwealth Games appears to have found that London based SIS Live was given the Rs 246 crore contract by Prasar Bharati, despite doubts over its legal status.
Further, in an internal memo the member finance of Prasar Bharati had raised a red-flag, asking for payments to SIS Live to be withheld because of the alleged forged registration.
Prasar Bharati CEO BS Lalli however denies the allegation. "It is incorrect to state that anybody in the organisation said that the payment should not be released. Whatever has been done has been done in totally proper correct and valid manner," Lalli told television channel NDTV.
