Rail ministry announces ex-gratia relief for kin of the deceased

Expressing grief over the mishap in Mumbai suburban rail network, Railway Minister Mukul Roy today announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 Lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased.

According to Railway Ministry sources, the minister sent his condolences to the family even as the Railway Board was constantly monitoring the situation.u00a0

Two persons, who were leaning precariously from a jam-packed coach of a suburban train, were killed and 15 others injured this morning as lakhs of Mumbaikars continued to have an agonizing time with services on the Central line remaining in complete disarray for the second consecutive day.u00a0

The two passengers on Badlapur-CST local train met a tragic end when they crashed into an iron pole alongside the tracks between Nahur and Bhandup stations.u00a0

Several people clutching at the window grille while standing close to the door, fell down with them in a heap beside the tracks, police said.u00a0

While the crash proved fatal for the two, 15 others were admitted to Rajawadi Hospital.
