The Pune Gourmet Club hosts the Wine Tasting Festival as part of the Celebrate Bandra festivities. The one-day fest includes winery stalls, food courts, blind tasting competitions, wine appreciation talks, even a gourmet dinner

If you thought there wasn't much more to wine than "red" and "white", you should be heading to Bandra this weekend, where the Pune Gourmet Club is hosting a crash course in wine appreciation. Formed by a group of food and wine enthusiasts in 2006, its members organised India's first wine tasting festival in 2007 in Pune. This is their third such event.

"We want the crowds to taste wine in a relaxed atmosphere, and let it grow on them. We will also educate them on how to pair different wines. They can savour wines from 10 wineries, including Sula, Chateau Indage, Vinsura, Reveilo, Zampa, Good Earth, York and Nine Hills," says event co-ordinator B Shankaranarayan.

What else is up? Food stalls by Kakori House, Mia Cucina, Zenzi and the Pune Gourmet Club, will be serving Italian, Awadhi and Oriental cuisine.

Participate in the blind tasting competitions, and sit in on talks by wine experts who will serve portions of food to demonstrate how to pair them with wine.

The special gourmet dinner offers unlimited wines as part of the Cajun Creole cuisine of New Orleans experience, accompanied by Jazz music.

Priced at: Rs 1,500, the gourmet dinner is for 50 people.
AT: D'Monte Park, Perry Road, Bandra (W).
On: November 15, 11.30 am to 10 pm.
CALL: 9326970457 / 9423568781
Cost: Rs 500 for a general pass that entitles you to 55 wine tasting coupons, a tasting pour (25-30 ml) per coupon, souvenir wine glass and Indian Wine Companion 2009 (a 96 page comprehensive guide to wine).
