3 reasons to attend this Amy Winehouse tribute

Bring out the blackest of kohl liners, sport the '60s beehive hairstyle and don't be shy of a little colour on your lips. Tonight, Mumbai's musicians come together for a concert dedicated to the young, award-winning singer

Her smoky, kohl-lined eyes stare at you in the music video of Rehab. In the video, Amy Winehouse oozes just the kind of attitude we've come to expect from contemporary artists out to woo young fans.

The singer's voice in Rehab and other songs was what set her apart from her contemporaries. Sadly, the award-winning singer who had managed to "revitalise British music" passed away a couple of months ago.

To celebrate Winehouse's R&B, Soul and Jazz-inspired music, Blue Frog is hosting a tribute night tonight. Zain Calcuttawala from Blue Frog gives us three solid reasons to make an early exit from work for this gig.

1. Amy Winehouse was a musical sensation! There have been many tribute gigs for Classic Rock bands but none for a contemporary artist. This performance isu00a0 an appropriate tribute to the young, musical legend, who inspired musicians across the globe.

2.The performance promises to be an extravagant affair with nearly 10 artists sharing the stage at the same time. Shalmali Kholgade, who came up with the idea of the gig, has put together a large band for this.

3.There will be a strong line-up including quite a few acts and singers who have performed at the Blue Frog earlier. Plus, there are some great guest performers too. (Zain wouldn't reveal the names of the guest artists but the Blue Frog website tells us to expect Neha Bhasin, Caralisa Monteiro and Aditi Singh Sharma at the gig).

The legend of Amy Winehouse
This week, legendary crooner Tony Bennett became the oldest living artist to have a song on the Billboard Hot 100. Bennett's duet with the late Amy Winehouse titled Body and Soul, shot the track to the No 87 spot. The single has sold 25,000 downloads in its first week of release.
