Sanjay Dutt should not contest elections: Lucknow NGO

Sanjay Dutt's desire to become a politician has hit a roadblock after the Bramhan Sansad, an NGO form Lucknow sent a letter to the Chief Justice Of India, requesting not to allow the Bollywood actor to contest the Lok Sabha election.

Sanjay Dutt's electionu00a0dreamsu00a0have hit a roadblock after theu00a0Bramhan Sansad, an NGO form Lucknow sent a letter to the Chief Justice Of India, requesting not to allow the Bollywood actor to contest the Lok Sabha election.


The letter states that Sanjay Dutt is facing serious charges pertaining to the anti national activities and heu00a0has not been acquitted by the court of law. Hence it would not be appropriate to allow him to contest election.


"If Sanjay Dutt is granted permission, it would open a new path for several dreaded criminals such as Dawood Ibrahim, Abu Salem and other undertrial prisoners who are facing serious charges of crime against nation."


The letter further states, "We welcome the idea that Sanjay Dutt wants to do social service by becoming the Member of Parliament of India, but he can do it by practising Gandhigiri."

Earlier Samajwadi Party on January 8 hadu00a0announced that Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt would be its candidate from Lucknow for the Lok Sabha elections subject to clearance by the Supreme Court and the Election Commission.

When Mid-day tried to contact Dutt, his secretary Dharam Oberoi informedu00a0 that the actor is in South Africa and will not be available for any comments.

Amar Singh was also not available for his comments.
