'She told me I was not good enough for her...'

Dear Diana

Dear Diana,
I liked this girl in college. We were friends till we completed our graduation. After we passed out, I thought it was time for me to confess my feelings for her. After telling her so and buying her flowers and gifts, she told me she could not see herself with me as I was not up to her expectations. Now I am too scared to talk to girls in case my appearance isn't good enough for them. Do I really need to be nervous in front of girls?
— Hamith

Dear Hamith,
Don't let this experience hold you back. Just because this girl said no it does not mean all the others will say no as well. This girl seems too concerned about other people's perceptions — what they will think about you being with her. Don't let this make you feel insecure. Looks aren't everything in life. I am sure you will find someone better than this girl, who was not at all worthy of your love in the first place.

Dear Diana,
I've been with my boyfriend for 10 months now. He has cheated on me once by talking dirty to some other girl through email. I forgavd him then, but now his ex-girlfriend is back in his life. He says he loves me and can't lose me, but sometimes I feel that it doesn't matter to him. If he is happy with me, why should he go back to his ex? I don't know where I stand in his life anymore.
— Sia

Dear Sia,
This guy seems to be like a yo-yo oscillating from one girl to another. Either he is scared of commitment or is a womaniser. When he has parted ways with his ex-girlfriend, why is he back in touch with her, especially when you are there in his life? His behaviour tells me that you cannot trust him. You need to have a serious conversation with him and decipher what is on his mind. If he continues with such behaviour, it is better for you to move on in life.
