Shootout at Kurla: Goons fire at cobbler

The Nehru Nagar police in Kurla are on the lookout for two anti- social elements for firing at a shoemaker because the goons believed the latter was a police informer.

Cops have booked one Indrajeet Pachuram Balotia ( 30) and his accomplice for the attempted murder of Ritesh Chhaganlal Jatolia.

Jatolia, 41, is a cobbler by profession. According to the police, the incident took place on Friday around 11.30 pm at Thakkar Bappa Colony in Kurla. The accused apparently accosted Jatolia and accused him of passing information about them to the cops. After a heated argument, one of them suddenly whipped out a revolver and fired at Jatolia. Fortunately, the bullets missed the cobbler. The two men then fled the spot even as local residents, who heard the gunshots, rushed to the aid of the victim.

According to a complaint filed by Jatolia, the duo also demanded Rs 2 lakh from him if he valued his life. Balotia who was identified by the cobbler as one of those who attacked him, is also a resident of the same locality. He is on the run.
