A 31 year-old software engineer was killed after an iron rod at a Metro rail construction site fell on him at suburban Alandur on Wednesday

Chennai: A 31 year-old software engineer was killed after an iron rod at a Metro rail construction site fell on him at suburban Alandur on Wednesday.


Police identified the victim as L Giridharan, who was on his way to work, and said he was killed on the spot when the rod fell on him. His body was taken to a nearby government hospital for post-mortem.


The incident caused a traffic hold-up for some time on the busy GST Road.
