In wake of Patna blasts, Pune police asks organisers of Friday's rally to secure Garware College premises with CCTVs

key locations in the Pune.

The move to step up security comes in the aftermath of the serial blasts outside the BJP leader’s rally in Patna last Sunday. u00a0Modi is scheduled to visit the city tomorrow, and the police are leaving no stone unturned to beef up security.
The special branch of Pune police has requested Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital authorities to install CCTV cameras at the Garware College premises, where Modi is scheduled to inaugurate their facility.
“Modi is a person with the highest level of threat to his life. We have got intelligence inputs from the central agencies too. So checks have been tightened and security increased at Karve Road’s Garware College premises, for the scheduled programme which has been organised by Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital.
Also, security at and around Lohegaon airport has been beefed up, where the city unit of BJP has organised a function for him,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) M B Tambde.

“We have asked the hospital authorities to conduct frequent checks at the venue. A team of Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad has also been deployed.
Besides this, we have also asked them to install CCTV cameras to detect suspicious movements of any person in and around the venue,” said Tambde.
“We have also started verifying tenants in the city, lodges and hotels, and are also keeping a tab of on record criminals,” added Tambde.
“A special team of Gujarat police has also arrived in the city to review security arrangements during Modi’s itinerary. We have had meetings with this team about our security arrangements, but the primary responsibility lies with Pune police,” Tambde said.u00a0
Modi is expected to leave the city at around 7.45 pm on Friday night.u00a0
