Soon after BJP leader Sushma Swaraj demanded that the Bhagavad Gita be declared a national book in the backdrop of a move to ban it in Siberia, it became a trending topic. A certain Bhuwan Pandey tweeted: 'The Gita may not incite people to violence, but a demand for making the Gita our national book just might.' Someone using the handle Eccentricandhow added: 'Dear BJP, before declaring the Gita as our National Book, we'd like to declare all politicians as National Crook(s). Sincerely, Aam Aadmi.' In Abdul Latheef's words: 'Clearly, the BJP is dragging the Gita into politics because it has run out of issues! Does the Gita need the title of National Book to prove its worth?'
