Surgery puts Serena out of exhibition match vs Azarenka
Serena Williams pulled out of an exhibition match against World No 1 Victoria Azarenka in Thailand later this month
This year’s Wimbledon, US Open and Olympics singles champion Serena Williams pulled out of an exhibition match against World No 1 Victoria Azarenka in Thailand later this month after having surgery on her toes.
She was scheduled to play Azarenka on December 29. “I am being advised by my doctors to take more time to heal following a minor procedure. I needed to address my ongoing foot issues,” Serena was quoted as saying by news.com.au.
A medical certificate from Florida podiatrist Jeffrey Rockefeller said, “Serena was treated for a chronic foot disorder which involved minor procedures on both of her great toes.”
