During the four-hour drive on Friday, 30 traffic cops caught as many as 296 drivers who had parked their vehicles in the No-parking zone on Sinhgad road. The department is planning to carry out these drives twice a day during morning and evening peak hours.

“We will be carrying out these drives on congested roads of the city that face the issue of traffic snarls. The drive will be carried out during peak traffic hours to make sure that we are able to nab maximum traffic violators, to create the right impact on citizens, so that they start adhering to traffic rules more seriously,” informed Sarang Awad, DCP traffic department.

Awad added that he has directed the ACPs in all four zones to identify areas in their division where they can conduct these drives. “We are going to continue the drive across the city, but our main focus will be on the most congested areas of Pune.”

Speaking to mid-day, Mathase Kale, senior PI, Dattawadi traffic branch, said, “We are planning to carry out the drive in the area on a regular basis so that the issue of traffic congestion can be resolved. After conducting the drive on Friday, there were hardly any traffic and parking violators on the road.”
