A 32-year-old software engineer employed with a reputed IT firm in Hinjewadi was arrested yesterday, after his domestic help filed a complaint of rape against him at Sangavi police station.
The arrested accused, who is married, has been identified as Prashantkumar Rajaram Yadav, a resident of Sai Prem Park society in Pimple Saudagar.u00a0
According to the police, the victim, a widow who resides alone, started working at Yadav’s flat six months ago. “On April 26, when Yadav’s wife had gone out of town, the victim came to work as usual.

The accused started touching her inappropriately and when she resisted, he raped her after threatening her that he would kill her if she didn’t give in to his demands,” said PSI Manohar Sonawane.
Police said that after the incident, the victim stopped coming to work, but Yadav went to her house and raped her again on April 29.
The victim then proceeded to her hometown and arrived in the city recently. She then approached a woman’s organisation and narrated the entire incident to them. With their help, she registered a case against the software engineer.u00a0
