The victim identified as Nandani Nilesh Kadam was tying a cloth at her shop, which is on the ground floor of her house, on Sunday morning at 7, when a cement mixing truck rammed into her relative’s parked car, which was pushed by the truck, and hit her.

“The truck was coming from Jakat Naka towards Ganpati Road and the incident took place in front of Sai Ganesh Lodge. It rammed into a parked Swift car and into Kadam’s residence. The residence has completely been damaged and the car of one of their neighbours’ relative, who had come there to visit Titwala Ganesh temple, suffered damage too,” said a police constable investigating the case, while adding that the victim was admitted in a private hospital and is undergoing treatment.

Police say
A case has been registered at Titwala police station under Sections 279, 337 and 427 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 184 and 187 of the Motor Vehicles Act. Venkat Andhale, senior police inspector, Titwala police station, told mid-day, “The accident took place on Sunday morning. One woman was injured. We have registered a case against the driver, who fled the scene and are looking for him. We suspect that the truck’s brake might have failed and the driver lost control of the vehicle.”
