Three minors raped in city
Three cases of rape of minor girls were registered in the city in recent days.
One of the incidents occurred in Chembur, while two cases are from Samta Nagar in Kandivli. The accused in all three cases were arrested and remanded in police custody.
The police said the victim, an eight-year-old resident of Indira Nagar in Chembur, was on her way to buy dandiya sticks when she was kidnapped by Keshav Khandare (26), a resident of the locality. As her pregnant mother had developed pain in her stomach on October 17, the victim’s parents were at a hospital and the girl was in her grandmother’s care.
The police said Khandare told the girl he would buy her dandiya sticks and took her to an isolated place, performed unnatural sex with her and left her near her home. When the girl’s parents returned, she told them everything. A case was filed against the accused at the Chembur police station. Khandare was arrested and charged under Sections 363 (kidnapping) and 377 (unnatural sex) of the IPC.
A 40-year-old man, Raja Shaikh, was arrested by the Samta Nagar police on Thursday for raping an 11-year-old who resides next door to him in Kandivli (East). The police said the victim’s labourer parents were at work on Thursday when around noon Shaikh lured the girl to his house with the offer of goodies, raped her and fled the colony. Later, the girl told her parents about the incident and a complaint was lodged with the Samta Nagar police. A police team found Shaikh at Kurla station. Shaikh was booked under Section 376 (rape) of the IPC.
The Samta Nagar police said a 13-year-old girl was raped several times by her father’s friend when she was living with him. They said the victim’s father and the accused were wanted in many online lottery cheating cases in the city and Delhi. A few months ago, the victim’s father brought her to his friend’s home in the city, admitted her to a local school and went back to Delhi. Later, the friend of the victim’s father was arrested in a cheating case and the girl was sent back to her mother. The girl told her mother that her guardian used to rape her often. The mother approached the Samta Nagar police, who filed a case of rape against the accused and took over his custody from the Arthur Road jail.
