Utpal Sanghvi (Juhu) beat Bombay Scottish (Mahim) 2-1 to win the U-14 Division II title of the Mumbai Schools Sports Association's (MSSA) inter-school football tournament at Azad Maidan yesterday and with it, earned a promotion into Division I next year
The victory was sweet revenge for the Juhu outfit, who were beaten by Scottish 0-2 in the league stage of the same tournament. Yesterday, Achintya Koliyote opened the scoring for Scottish in the fifth minute after tapping in from close range. However, the Mahim outfit’s joy was shortlived as Utpal Sanghvi striker Jansangat Sonpal equalised three minutes later.
In the second half, Scottish dominated the proceedings, but just as the match seemed to be heading into the tie-breaker, Jansangat scored a long-ranger to hand Utpal Sanghvi the title.
