7-year-old drowns in private pool during swimming lesson

Seven-year-old Aryan Parab (in pic) drowned in a private pool at Goregaon yesterday evening. The Motilal Nagar resident had enrolled at the Ozone Club to learn swimming during his summer vacations.

According to Goregaon police officers, Aryan had gone to the pool with his mother. The police officers said that due to the large number of people in the water the youngster was not spotted by the instructor when he began to go under.

However, when his mother searched for him, she saw Aryan drowning.

She screamed for help and the instructor brought the boy out of the water. He was rushed to the nearby Siddharth Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Aryan’s father works at the Mazagon dock and was not present at the time of the incident. The victim was not a member of the club and had only joined the swimming classes for a month.

Police have registered a case of death due to negligence against the instructor and have arrested him.

“We are conducting inquiries to find out the precise sequence of events that led to Aryan’s death. We have arrested the instructor and if we find there’s negligence on part of someone else, we will arrest that person as well,” said Arun Jadhav, senior police inspector of Goregaon police station.u00a0
