Cyber crooks are circulating a spam mail in the name of Lufthansa Airlines, promising job to young professionals

With the recession refusing to die anytime soon, a job is the most sought after commodity among young professionals these days.

Any mail regarding an opening or a job offer is sure to set eyeballs and the mouse rolling. The cyber crooks understand this and to ensure that they make most of these desperate times, they have started using job as the perfect bait to target young job seekers.

Chandan Kumar's joy knew no bounds when he got e-mail from Lufthansa Airlines, saying he has been selected for a job. The 24-year-old engineer immediately called up his friends to share his happiness.

"I was shattered when my friends told me that they too have got similar mails from in the name of leading international companies offering jobs," he said.

Though Chandan was lucky that he did not pay any money or shared his financial details on the fake website, link for which was attached to the e-mail.

The hackers choose their victims from various job portals where thousands of such candidates put up their resumes and update them.

Vibhash Mishra, a management student in Noida, also got a similar e-mail but in the name of Marriot Hotels, London that claimed to offer a monthly package of 10,500 pounds.

According to the cyber crime experts, before proceeding on with the formalities one must verify such e-mails from the company's office in India or the embassy of the country concerned.

"There has been sudden rise in such case. These mails are drafted to look very authentic. If you take a closer look, the link to embassy website is spelled wrong https://www.embassyofirland.net/. Moreover the contact email ID is at Yahoo and Gmail. This is an international fraud to steal money and identity," said cyber crime expert Vivek Vohra.
