Poppi: Crafting Sustainable And Stylish Fashion For The Modern Indian Woman

Pooja Baheti, the visionary founder of Poppi, a fashion brand, has redefined the Indian fashion landscape. Armed with a background in Psychology, Pooja embarked on this remarkable journey in 2020, driven by her passion for fashion and her desire to fill a void in the industry.

The Birth of Poppi

Poppi's origin story is one of determination and resilience. Pooja's dream of launching a homegrown, super stylish western wear brand for women had been simmering for over a year. It was her husband who finally encouraged her to take the plunge. The path wasn't smooth. Visiting countless manufacturing units across India, battling quality issues, and eventually setting up a manufacturing unit herself - Pooja demonstrated a commitment to ensuring her vision became a reality.

Poppi's journey took an unexpected turn when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, forcing the brand to suspend operations shortly after its launch in January 2020. However, undeterred, the entire team persevered. With the easing of restrictions in July 2020, they worked tirelessly to regain momentum through marketplace listings, strategic marketing, and an engaging online presence. Poppi soon gained traction and became a growing success.

Expanding Horizons

Over the years, the brand's impact has extended beyond clothing. While the brand started in a small Mumbai apartment, it has grown exponentially. Today, it boasts an office and a dedicated team of 15 individuals. Poppi has ventured into diverse categories, including Poppi Luxe and exquisite jewellery. Its presence spans multiple platforms, from its website to major marketplaces like NykaaFashion, Myntra, and Ajio. The brand is also making its mark in select physical stores.

Distinctive Brand Values

What sets the brand apart is its commitment to sustainable, size-inclusive fashion. The brand's belief that clothing should adapt to fit you, rather than the other way around, echoes through its ethos. All prints are exclusively designed in-house, ensuring uniqueness and authenticity. The clothing is made for the Indian woman's body, contrasting to international brands dumping ill-fitting collections in Indian stores. Moreover, the brand champions sustainability with fair wages, equal rights, and safe working conditions for all its vendors and team members. The brand's eco-friendly packaging and eventual plans for a complete green business model exemplify its environmental commitments.

Poppi, founded by Pooja Baheti, stands as a symbol of sustainable and stylish fashion in India. Her determination has transformed the brand from a small startup to a thriving business. Poppi believes in fashion that fits every woman comfortably and is committed to eco-friendly practices. To make India a global fashion destination, Poppi redefines beauty standards and ensures fair treatment for all involved. Poppi isn't just about fashion; it's a brand with values that matter.
