Universal Relocations has simplified global moving since 1998, offering packing, shipping, customs & eco-friendly relocation across India, US & Middle East.
Universal Relocations
Moving to a different country involves more than just packing your belongings. It's about preserving cherished memories, moments, and achievements. Each item tells a story, from your child's favorite toy to your grandmother's beloved dinner table.
Since 1998, Universal Relocations has helped people safely move their stories across countries. What started as a small business in Chennai has grown into a global moving company with offices in the US, India, and the Middle East.
In the late 1990s, it was a big risk to start a foreign moving company from Chennai. At that time, most people hired different companies to handle different parts of the moving process. For example, packing, customs, and shipping were all taken care of by different companies. That's what Universal Relocations set out to do, help people move and provide services like shipping to India from USA.
CEO of Universal Relocations, Sai Dattani, says, "We wanted to make things easier." "That's why we chose to handle packing, customs, and delivery all by ourselves, in one place."
They didn't hire outside help; instead, they bought their trucks, warehouses, and hired staff. They were able to keep control of the process, serve people faster, and give them peace of mind.
They quickly identified their core audience: Indians living overseas who frequently move between the U.S. and India. These are more than just relocations; they're significant emotional transitions. As Vice President Anu Dattani aptly states, "We're not just shipping stuff. We're bringing memories to life.”
We started giving customized services to NRIs so they could better use them. These included weekly shipments to the U.S., Full Container Load (FCL) and Less than Container Load (LCL) options, home relocation, pet relocation, office and commercial moves, help with visa and customs paperwork, and more.
Take the case of Priya. She moved from Mumbai to Atlanta and was worried about the old table her grandma had given her. She says, "They packed it so carefully, and it arrived in perfect shape."
Their service is highly praised, with over 2,300 Trustpilot reviews averaging 4.8 stars. While international moves can encounter issues like customs problems, delays, or damage, Universal Relocations is known for promptly resolving these challenges.
The company began in Chennai and now has five offices in India: in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Chennai. It also has five offices in the United States: in Texas, Georgia, New Jersey, Maryland, and California. They've also made a strong start in the Middle East with their office in Dubai, and they plan to grow even more shortly.
Sai says, "Dubai is a hub that's always changing." "It made perfect sense to open an office there."
Their global team makes sure that you get the same level of service whether you're moving from Houston to Hyderabad or from Delhi to Dubai.
People in the Middle East follow their own rules and norms. Customs rules are very strict, and customers expect the best service possible. Universal Relocations quickly changed to meet the needs of its customers by providing custom moving services for pets, businesses, gadgets, and even fine art.
Anu says, "The rules in the UAE are stricter than what we're used to, but we quickly changed." They also started using eco-friendly methods in the area, like packing materials that could be recycled and planning paths that would cut down on pollution.
Their new technology, like tracking shipments in real time and virtual polls, has also made things clearer and given customers a sense of more control. Ahmed, who moved from Dubai to Chicago, remembers, "It was 2 a.m., and I was keeping an eye on my shipment in real time, which calmed me down.” When things go wrong, they fix them quickly and honestly.
Raj had a box that was late when he moved from Bangalore to Seattle. He says, “They told me before I even noticed, and had it delivered right after.” “We're not perfect, but we fix things quickly," says Sai.
It wasn't even possible in 1998 to get a virtual quote or track your shipment in real time. These features are now common because Universal Relocations keeps spending money on technology.
They care more about the environment now, too, and use recycled products and cut down on their carbon footprint. "Moving is already a big event in your life," Sai says. "We want to help the environment while making it smooth."
People and countries in places like the Middle East are becoming more concerned about the environment, so this eco-awareness is very valuable there.
A new office for Universal Relocations is being opened in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to strengthen its position in the Middle East. Sai says, "We go where people go." But opening new places isn't the only way to grow. "We've always thought we were moving people, not just things," says Anu. We are still led by that idea.
There are a lot of moving companies out there. What makes Universal Relocations different?
From packing to shipping, they do it all themselves, so the experience is always the same and there are no problems. Customers also like that they are honest about their prices and services.
"Our goal is not to be the cheapest," Sai says. "Our goal is to be the most trusted name in international moving."
With just one office in Chennai, Universal Relocations has come a long way. Now, they have offices in three countries and are growing all the time. They do everything with care, consistency, and heart, whether it's following customs rules or taking care of important family things.
One thing stays the same as Universal Relocations grows: they are more than just moving boxes. They give people the security and care they need to start new journeys.
