Think Singapore and the first image that comes to your mind is that of clean streets, blue Toyota cabs, skyscrapers and the night-life.

Think Singapore and the first image that comes to your mind is that of clean streets, blue Toyota cabs, skyscrapers and the night-life.

But for model Rosa Catalano, the country is synonymous with a lot more. Having recently returned from Simply Singapore, this globe-trotter shares her travel diary with CS:

Water fun!

I've always been a travel freak and just love learning about new cultures, traditions and cuisines. Seafood, especially sushi, is my weakness.

I needed a break and wanted to feel the air, so I took off to Singapore last month. I found the country to be very technologically advanced and hi-tech.

I spent most of my time at the Sentosa Island, especially the Underwater World. It was a sheer pleasure to see the rich variety of marine life.

And the best part of the trip was that I got to dive with the ocean's fiercest predators, sharks, and swim in crystal clear waters with the most adorable fur seals and pink dolphins in the Dolphin Lagoon.

The Night Safari was truly a humbling experience with all those big wild animals around I even spotted a lion.

I also indulged in fish reflexology. The thought of having fish nibble at your feet might seem scary to some, but after participating in Fear Factor, I have forgotten about all my fears.

And guess what, the skin on my feet actually looked healthier and smoother.

Super Sushi

I didn't really have the time to try the traditional food, but I did gorge on sushi everywhere I went. Shopping wasn't the highlight of my trip because I don't think that Singapore is a shopper's paradise.

It's good for electronic goods though. But I did manage to find some souvenirs, home appliances and music accessories.

In nature's lap

Contrary to the common perception of Singapore being highly commercial, I found it to be a place where I could just connect with nature be it a walk down the road, trekking in the rain forest or diving in the Underwater World. It is unfortunate that I couldn't make time to visit the Botanical Gardens.

I would have loved to sit there with a book. Maybe, next time.
